Michael J. Flynn
Welcome to my blog!
I am someone who is curious about a broad array of subjects, and I write about them here.
I recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Applied Physics with a focus on Synthetic Biology, and am currently tinkering on my next project.
During my Ph.D., I worked in Michael Elowitz's lab at Caltech designing and building biological circuits. I have co-written academic papers on a toolkit of miRNA regulatory circuits, applying miRNA regulatory circuits to Rett Syndrome gene therapy, protein circuits for cancer therapy, an RT-LAMP-based COVID diagnostic, and X-rays generated by magnetic reconnection in a laboratory generated plasma jet.
I am a named inventor on patents for miRNA regulatory circuits in gene therapies and biological amplifiers, and I'm quite proud of them.
My CV is here.
